"The Highway to Fairplay"

This was hung at Stella's Coffee House in Denver on March 30th.

THis is a 12" x 16" oil on canvas.

One of my favorite places to see is this stretch that starts at the Great Sand Dunes and then works its way North to South Park. I love the little home stead at the base of the mountains.

This is "Denver City Golf Course". Wow, exciting name. This is an example of how I like to paint in oils. I think of it as modern impressionism. The paintng is 30" x 12" oil on canvas. I will be hanging this at Stella's Coffee House on South Pearl St. In Denver February 16th. It is for sale as are my 2 longhorns.

These two paintings are 12" x 9" oil on canvas. I will be hanging them at Stella's Coffee House on South Pearl St. in Denver. I've gone back to more traditional style oil painting here. I have finished it off with a high gloss varnish just to mix it up a little. I have a tendency with oils to paint more boldly and thick. My retentive qualities show up when I paint with acrylics. Here I went more retentive. It was fun.

Been busy. Finished writing my novel. Now I'm actively looking for an agent. My friend Jen Carter moved to Ohio. That put a dent into my patterns.

These tulips are available in print. My painting was going to go to Stella's Coffee house, but I sold it before it could get hung. Wow! That never happens. They were fussy to paint. Red is a difficult color to replicate from nature.

Wrote a fanfic for XFiles 3 or FX3. You can check it out by going to tvsight.com "fanfics" It's called "William Story".

Will try to check in on all the blogs I used to go to. I do complain about lack of time. Just let it be said, at least I'm having a good time.

Here is a sneak peek at my witch doll I've been working on. Jennifer @ Wonders of Whimsy had been my mentor. I wanted to get into sculpting and making dolls is definitely an avenue. My skills as a painter as well as my designer skills are in use. When it comes to stitching, I'm better at witching. Jen has been showing me how to do everything. Jennifer Carter of Wonders of Whimsy has really shown me the ropes. She helped me make this. We start out with just a cloth pattern. After we stuff it, you take paper clay and form the face. The day she helped me first use the paper clay was so much fun. To get it to the finished doll took a lot of work. What I love about it is I can use my 2-d painting skills on a 3-d piece. I will be thinking about a sewing machine. I have to go now, I'm starting a witch. Thanks Jen!

This is my blue point Siamese kitten that was rescued by my friend Jenny Carter at Wonders of Whimsy. He now enjoys the good life. So many cats are loose on the streets of Denver. Jenny has saved so many little lives it is amazing. It is so important to get your pets spayed and neutered. It prevents unwanted suffering.

The following paintings are available on my ebay.

This beauty is the black sheep of the litter. He lives a good life now. My paintings are 5"x7" acrylic on canvas board. The Sylvester kitten is a 5"x5" acrylic on canvas board.

This painting has all the festive coloring of a Halloween decoration.

This is the seal point Siamese kitten that is the brother of the tuxedo. Thanks to Jen, this kitten enjoys a chance at a good life.

This is my Felix, Sylvester, Tuxedo kitten. Jenny at Wonders of Whimsy saved his little naughty butt. Look out if you are a mouse. This kitten is ready to pounce. She took these wild babies and socialized them. They now live with good families.

While visiting the Denver Zoo last week with my G-kids, I was able to get some shots of the flamingos. They were all sleeping with their butts to the crowds except for these two. I'm getting them ready for Stella's the coffee house. Jen @ Wonders Of Whimsey and I want to use my paintings for a children's book about the Denver Zoo. I have started some of the images that we need.

This is my Sunny. I lost her this week. We are sad. She was a delight. Unabashedly cheerful. She was always glad to see me. I got her from some people who no longer wanted her. I had acquired another cockateel from someone who could no longer care for the bird. I thought the best thing would be to find a companion for her. I have to say that "T-Bird" was slightly disappointed when I brought her Sunny. She wanted a boy bird. They never truly got along but tolerated each other. I built them an aviary they shared with two parakeets. It turns out Sunny loved the parakeets better than TBird. She and TBird would compete for my affection. They secretly liked each other just fine. We think Sunny had an accident and crashed into the wall. She was such an angel. We buried her under a baby box elder tree we planted today. I listened to "Free Bird" Lynyrd Skynyrd today in memory of her. I picture her being born (hatched) again as a free bird. Free to fly away in the sky.

Salacious Morning

I donated this to the 7th Annual Wine and Arts Classic at the Arvada Center. It was presented at the auction table. I do believe some one walked away with it that night. They better be careful, it was still wet.

It seems like a ling time. I've been busy but finally I was able to get some work done. Especially with a couple of dead lines. Stella's coffee house changes art on May 13th. Some one bought my Peacock painting and a painting of an ostrich I did. I've been going to the zoo in Denver with my son and his kids. I take bazillian pictures when ever I'm there. So I started painting the locals at the zoo. The lion is so beautiful. It was like he posed for me. He's 11"x14" acrylic on canvas. I have to get back to work. There is a Cheetah I'm trying to finish!

I said yes to a set painting job At the Denver School for the Arts. It took me a few weeks to finish. I will get some fotos to show off the set. I have spent more time being a granny nanny. This is Korben. He is almost 4 months. He's pretty precious. I am helping my son who stays home in the morning with the kids. I arrive a little after noon to watch the babies while he goes to work. So from 12:30 to six pm, I take care of the kids. It is a wonderful time.

I have the morning to work on paintings. It seems I might be very busy soon. I might have said yes to painting The Stations of the Cross for my church. Yikes! That is a large undertaking. More later...

Denver Elephant

Here is one of the Denver Zoo's elephants. I love them dearly. Denver has two lady elephants. I get impatient with zoos. I think Denver tries. It is a nice zoo. I think the keepers take the fine ladies for a walk in the early morning before the zoo opens.

The You tube video is of my band a few years ago. My friend Sean(guitar player in video) and myself have since formed another band. We will be playing at Owlsey's in Denver March 23rd. We are called the Nite Lite Vandals, or NLV. We do lots of covers but we have several originals through out the sets. We have a lot of fun. Currently NLV is going to make a video. Maybe by May.

Sandy

Here is my Sandy! He is a fine example of what the Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Foundation does. He lives happily under my house, an old Victorian near downtown Denver. I have been providing for him for almost three years now. Someone had captured him in a trap and lovingly got him neutered and vaccinated and let him go. He is a feral and will not approach me. Let's just say he and I have an understanding. Live and let live.

Chelsea Fox

Here is Chelsea Fox.

Bewildered and wondering how she ended up here. She loves dogs better than cats. I brought her inside when she came to me as the temperatures plummeted last November. No one has posted any signs that she is missing. I will post some signs to see if anyone is looking for her. She is a spayed female maybe a few years old.

I have relisted my four seasons in birds. I have lowered the price. Ipainted 4 paintings this week. they were all for Stella's Coffee House on South Pearl in Denver. I have two vistas of my Denver. One is a close up view like I see where I live. The other is a little further out at Stapleton where my son and his family live. They are both 30" x 12", oil on wrapped canvas.

Busy elves. Making Christmas presents. This is Boo. My sister in law, Beth wanted her dog in a portrait. Let me tell you about Boo. Last summer Boo got spooked by fire crackers. She took off like a bat out of h.... I mean a bat cave. I joined in the campaign to find her, signs, posters, news paper adds, what ever way we could. Boo is part Saluki and she is the fasted thing on wheels. First days, then weeks went by, no Boo. Her people knew to put an ID chip in her shoulder because about six weeks later they got a call that the animal control had picked her up. Don't give up hope, I would tell her. This story had a happy ending!

I found the canvas at Hobby Lobby. Regular frames for an oval were expensive. I looked around the store thinking there might be something that would work instead. Sure enough I found this twig wreath for just a few bucks. I hope that Beth does not look at my blog at least until Christmas!

This is snowball. She wanted to play with the ribbons when we were wrapping presents.

Back to work. It's been a heck of a time. My mother is doing better thanks to a doctor who treated her. He was able to get a handle on pain management. Her prognosis is not good, but they may be able to keep her here for a while longer.

We welcomed a grandchild into the world Nov. 28th. His name is Korben. Perfect and beautiful 8lbs and 2oz.

So, I worked on some Christmas paintings this week. I had to go visit my mother, who is on her death bed. So, Jenny of Wonders of Whimsy is blogging this for me.

This is the racoon that seals the kitty food from both my porch and Jenny's.
There are two of them and they are big and fat! They live down in the storm drains and come out at night to enjoy some yummy cat food.

I love painting animals and birds. Hopefully I will get some more Christmas paintings of birds and such done when I get back. I am still in the negative on my E-bay sales. So, i am trying to do smaller paintings in hopes up keeping my prices low. Hopefully, it will pick up here.

These are my Jenny and Shadow paintings i did this week. I will be posting them on Ebay. I thought it would be fun to get my friend Jenny and her funny bunny kitty cat on a short series. I was looking for simplicity and I was thinking of mixing my love of pen and ink with the super duper fastness of acrylic. They were quite fun to do. I love that Jen cooperated with me when I requested the pajama outfit.

Please bare with me as I am still learning to blog. I wish to thank all of you who have commented on my work. I love the sense of connection there is.

I wrote a novel. This is not the first time. I started a blog on my attempts to get it looked at. This is not an easy feat. I will be updating it from time to time. Joan Crow Cimyotte wrote a novel.

I was at City Park in Denver recently. All the crows in the vicinity were having a crow party.

Have you ever noticed a large gathering of crows? They always seem to know when and where these meetings take place. I am talking hundreds of birds, sometimes thousands. Well they saw me with my trusty camera and off they went exploding into the sky.

The fall colors were so gorgeous. It must be the fall gathering time for

the crows. Look for them in

late February and March. This is when you can see their spring pre mating season.

This is the cape Jenny of Wonders of Whimsy made for my Granddaughter Violet.

When Violet saw Jenny running towards us in the red cape her eyes got so big and the smile on her face of a child who had finally made it through the trials of that annual Halloween costume. Thank you Jenny! It looks great!

BlueJay Paintings

You can hear his distant cry. Sometimes it sounds lonely. The Blue Jay is a bird found in Denver. With our Colorado bluest of blue skies, a blue jay can get lost in the vista. When you hear the sad sounding calls, look for him. The blue jay is a bird that took a hard hit from the West Nile Virus in 2003. Along with other crow type birds. So if you see some blue jays in your midst post a bird feeder. They like suet blocks, peanuts and sunflower seed.

These two birds are part of group that visits me every morning. I am up at six in the morning most every day. One of my routines is to leave out a big handful of unshelled unsalted dry roasted peanuts on the stoop in front of my house. Sure enough as soon as there is a hint of daylight, they arrive to greet me and snatch the little treasures from the ground.

I'm catching up to the halloween spirit. I've worked with this special paint in the past. It's called "Wild Fire" and is used in Theatre and haunted house productions. You can't see it until black light is added. I thought it would be fun to do the bats with the black light effect.

Wow, my first ever listings on Ebay. These two paintings are acrylic on 6x6 canvas board.

They are paintings of my kitty Sam.

Sam was diagnosed with acute kidney failure a couple months ago and the vet wanted to put him down. He is only 3 years old and I was heart broken. So, she gave me another doctor (whom was a heck of a lot cheaper) to help me.

Dr. Schulman was wonderful. He looked into Sam's eyes and said " We will do everything we can to save him." So, he taught me how to administer sub-Q's intravenously. So, everyday, my husband and I poke him for about 10 minutes. Now he is doing great. He is so loving and playful. SO, I have painted a whole series of paintings dedicated to him. I hope you will take a look at them.
